Ottawa

Reunion

It’s now more than 15 years since my first visit to Canada. I was on a curling trip to Ottawa, the capital city, when I fell in love with the home of curling, the bear country and pancakes. Pancakes that were made by Marian and Pierre at Hawthorne Avenue. Back then, the two were hosting our curling team and did welcome us warmly. It was a stay, that never will be forgotten.

I wouldn’t call it destiny but it definitely needed more than pure luck, to allow our paths to cross again after all these years. And the welcome was as warm as back then. It was like meeting family after a long time. Thank you Marian and Pierre for this lovely brunch at Stoneface Dolly’s. It was very nice to see you again and hope it doesn’t take another 15 years before our paths will cross again…

The Pancakes at Dolly’s were nice and may be recommended, but they can’t hold with the homemade Pancakes of Marian. I still use her recipe and we are looking forward into another Sugar-Shack-Pancake-Brunch with all our friends, when we get back from our Canada-Trip.
